When do you know a habit is stuck with you forever? They used to say that "it only takes 21 days to form a habit". I recently read that it takes anywhere between 18 to 250 days. The 21-day factoid is a myth apparently.

So when do we stop using our prefrontal cortex for an action and use the basal ganglia? How do we know when that transition happens? Do we really need those actions to be on a schedule for a total mindless trigger?

I don't think any of mine have made the transition yet. I guess I just need to try harder.
